Have proof of successful completion of the Entry Level CRT or RRT Examination(s) of the NBRC
Has completed a respiratory care training program approved by the department (225 ILCS 106 Section 50)
Complete 24 hours of CE relevant to the practice of respiratory care every 2 years (Title 68 Section 1456.110)

A person may practice if they have applied for a license and have complied with all provisions except for the passing of an examination until the Department has made the decision that the aplicant has failed to pass the next available exmination or has failed without approved excuse to take the next available examination, but not to exceed 6 months. (225 ILCS 106 Section 50c)
